Qubee doubles its internet speed

Qubee, a WiMAX service provider, is going to double its present internet speed for its subscribers at no extra pay, officials at a briefing said on Thursday.

Under its offer Qubee will now provide 512 kbps speed for the same price it has so far sold 256 kbps of speed, they said.

Likewise, the 512 kbps users will now have 1 mbps speed while 1 mbps users will browse the net at 2 mbps speed.

The subscribers, who will surf the net at 1 mbps speed will have 1GB download limit for a monthly payment of Tk 400 while 2 GB download limit users for Tk 700 a month.

Currently, the services would be available in the Dhaka city only and it would be frequent for other divisional cities gradually, said Qubee marketing chief Nehal Ahmed.

He also informed that his company, in less than two years, won 20 per cent share of the total bandwidth market in the country.

Qubee global marketing director Alistair Johnston, chief finance officer Faisal Hyder and chief technical officer Shafiqul Islam also spoke at the briefing.
