Qubee Prepay Broadband

19.10.10

Qubee has launched the world’s first wireless prepay broadband Internet access service designed specifically for emerging markets. The service allows customers to surf the Internet as much or as little as they want on a pay-as you-go basis, without the need to commit to long-term contracts.

The service, which has been launched in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and will be rolled out across other Qubee networks, allows users to purchase a 1GB or 2GB scratch card. The 1GB will be valid for a period of 15 days while the 2GB will be valid for a period of 1 month. These two offers allow users the flexibility to have always on broadband and only pay for what they use.

As an example 1GB gives you*: 7 hours of YouTube video streaming, 340 mp3’s, 49 hours of Skype chat or 20,000 emails.

The service is delivered via Qubee’s exclusive Shuttle modem that conveniently connects to a user’s PC or laptop via a USB cable. As it is USB powered, there aren’t any issues should a power failure occur**. The device is also very portable so can be conveniently used in most locations in and about the house. A customer can top up his account on Qubee’s website with a scratch card purchased from any authorised Qubee dealer.

Qubee prepay broadband is a convenient and cost effective way for everyone to Join In and get surfing.

*Standard YouTube bitrate of 320 Kbps, 3 minute 128 Kbps encoded mp3, 24 Kbps Skype codec, emails with 50KB attachments

** Assumes the Qubee shuttle is connected to a laptop. If connected to a desktop, this would need to be powered by a UPS
